Tavigh Dance Troupe

In 1998 Lark Musical Society established the “Tavigh” Dance Troupe and further added dance training to its curriculum within the Lark Conservatory. Under the tutelage of master instructor and famed dance-choreographer, Sona Avetissian, students could train on two levels – beginner and advanced – during the three-year program. Instruction focuses on mastering dance patterns that draw from and incorporate ballet movement into an Armenian folk medium.
“Tavigh” Dance Troupe has performed regularly throughout Southern California, exposing the public to the diverse Armenian dance traditions passed down through the ages. Though the Troupe and its respective courses at the conservatory are currently on hiatus, plans are underway to revive training and performance activities in the near future.
