Tavigh Dance Troupe

In 1998 Lark Musical Society established the Tavigh Dance Troupe, thereby adding dance training into its conservatory curriculum. The program began under the tutelage of master instructor and famed choreographer, Sona Avetissian, and has since been handed off to a new generation of teachers. Students train on two levels – beginner and advanced – during the three-year program. Instruction focuses on mastering dance patterns that draw from and incorporate ballet movement into an Armenian folk medium.

Tavigh Dance Troupe has performed regularly throughout Southern California, exposing the public to the diverse Armenian dance traditions passed down over centuries.
