Taguhi (Tah-goo-hee) Summer Day Camp embodies Lark Musical Society’s aspiration to foster a positive connection to an Armenian identity in younger generations. The program began in 2006 as a branch of the Lark Conservatory. That first summer was organized as a 2 week program and served 40 students. It was such a successful endeavor that the Taguhi Summer Day Camp has grown over the years into an 8 week program and has served up to 200 young students each summer. While the programming is tethered to the heritage of Armenian culture, its primary aim is to serve as a launching pad for young minds into the arts and has expanded to include students of all backgrounds.
Students engage each week in a rotating exploration of the major branches in art. They are exposed to different forms of artistic expression while being encouraged to enter into creative play. Whether it’s their first foray into live performance or their first discovery of tactile invention, we strive to give children novel, positive, and, most importantly, fun artistic experiences.
