The Lark Conservatory is an educational institution which sits at the heart of the Lark Musical Society, spearheading the educational component of the Society’s mission. Groundwork for conservatory pedagogy was laid in the first years of the Lark Musical Society, through exploratory educational initiatives from 1989-1995. In 1996 Lark Conservatory found its first home and launched its music education program. After nearly 10 years, Lark Musical Society established its current campus on Arden Avenue, which includes a dedicated wing for the Lark Conservatory. With its comprehensive music curriculum, the conservatory provides students a breadth of knowledge and experience in classical music, and strives to leave a cultural footprint emanating from within the Los Angeles Armenian community.
Lark Conservatory is devoted to teaching classical music in general and Armenian music in particular. Its aims are:
1. To spark a rooted love of music by providing students with a thorough understanding of its practice and traditions.
2. To establish a creative environment wherein to nurture musical talents, promote mastery in instrumental practice, and encourage artistic invention.
3. To motivate students to meet the highest standards in scholarship and performance.
4. To inspire confident leadership, while developing the skill-set and focus necessary for functioning within an ensemble.
5. To safeguard and advance Armenian musical traditions for generations to come.
